Gravatars? How to get one.
A Globally-Recognized Avatar is a small photo or image that appears with your comments on blogs that use Gravatar plug-ins.
These images and other information are stored at http://gravatar.com, where you can open a free account linked to your email address.
The gravatar plug-in installed on weblogs — your own or other people’s, including this one — automatically checks your email address against the database in your gravatar.com account and feeds the image and other data to that blog. So you can post in multiple blogs and have your gravatar image and other information appear automatically.
MyBlogLog avatars are also accepted
If you have a MyBlogLog.com account, this blog will also recognize your selected profile image.
Why do it? Is it just vanity and ego?
There’s an old saying “on the web, nobody knows you’re a dog!” In other words, people want to know who they’re dealing with. This applies offline as well as online. It’s about T-R-U-S-T.
It’s especially important in network marketing. In a business system that relies so heavily on personal branding for success like network marketing, the answer is NO. It’s essential branding strategy at work.
You can’t expect to build a global reputation and internet presence if people don’t recognize you. It’s not about whether you look like Brangelina or the Muppets. It’s about building relationships.
(Only a fool believes their own branding and promotion.)
